Handling multiple aliases in Gmail

The Bananatag browser extension supports multiple aliases in Gmail by providing two options. When you first send a message from an email address which is different from the one you have logged in as, you will prompted to choose how you wish to proceed.

Options when using multiple aliases:

  1. Always track and send using your current account – i.e. if you log into john@gmail.com and track and a message from an alias (johndoe@gmail.com), the email is tracked in the john@gmail.com Bananatag account.
  2. Always track and send using a separate account – i.e. if you log into john@gmail.com and track and a message from an alias (johndoe@gmail.com), the email is tracked in the johndoe@gmail.com Bananatag account. Note that With this option, your alias and your primary account are completely separate.

Note: Your tracking options are stored locally; if you use a different computer, browser, or clear your history/cache, you will need to choose the option you’d like to use again.
