Pasting text into your design

Follow

In this article, you will learn:

  1. How to copy and paste into the email designer
  2. What formatting will remain when you paste into the email designer
  3. How the content will change according to the source of the text

It is sometimes necessary to copy content over from an email or Word document into your newsletter design. In certain circumstances this could cause formatting and style issues. To remedy this, our Email Designer would strip out any formatting and only plain text could be pasted in.

With recent updates, we have enhanced the copy/paste functionality so that certain elements can be copied over without causing formatting issues in the email. However, there are limitations depending on the source of the text, and the type of formatting involved. These limitations are outlined in the tables below.

How to copy & paste into the email designer

To paste into Bananatag, you can either right-click the text element and click 'Paste', or use a keyboard shortcut (CTRL + V (Windows) or CMD + V (Mac)).

If you'd prefer to copy without the source formatting you can do this by:

  • Windows: Right-clicking and choosing 'Paste as plain text' or using CTRL + SHIFT + V
  • Mac: Right-clicking and choosing 'Paste and match style' or using CMD + SHIFT + V

What formatting is supported by Bananatag when pasting text?

The styling supported by Bananatag varies depending on where the source text is coming from, but the table below outlines what can be pasted into the designer.
